To anyone, but Christians especially: Would you have an abortion if…?
Would you have an abortion if the Doctor told you clearly that you and the child were going to die if the pregnancy was carried to term?
An abortion could save your life, but you will die alongside your child if you do not. What would you do?

This is no idle hypothetical scenario. This is a choice faced by thousands of women around the world. This really happens.
How far does pro-life sentiment stretch when you know your death is part of the decision?

And finally, spare a thought for the millions of women throughout history, who died in agony on blood soaked beds, with their loved ones weeping beside them - in a time before medical science could provide a way to save them or their children. In an era when statistics showed 1 in 5 children were guaranteed to die, and 1 in a thousand women whilst in labour? Statistics which have been relegated in the west to the history books.
I find it hard to reconcile the same medical science that has saved millions can also be so casually accused of murder.
Daleksup> Argh! You’ve outed me as a devotee of the Timelord… bad habit capitalising "Doctor"…. must suppress the urge!
ComeSoon & Chomko> That’s great that your friends made it through safely. It makes me glad. But what about those who didn’t? They don’t live to spread anecdotes. Their stories die with them.

I’m pro-choice. I could pretend to be psychic and tell you what answers you are going to get on this but I am guessing you already know.

Yes I would have an abortion.

Part I: Pro-life positions already have indicated that abortion is acceptable in the case of saving the life of the mother.

Part II: Your argument is absurd. You argue that we should have abortion legal in order to prevent mothers from killing their unborn children themselves. Using your logic, one could say that we should legalize all acts of murder because people will just commit murder anyway. Have it nice and clean, like in a clinic, because you’re going to "off" your boss anyway.

Preposterous argument, but nice try…

why is doctor capitalized? unless… YOU ARE ALLIED WITH THE DOCTOR! WE MUST TORTURE YOU! just kidding. yes i would have an abortion in that scenario but i am not a woman.

Have the abortion. There is a big difference between saving the life of the mother and killing a fetus because it’s an inconvenience.

i think that if you and the baby are going to die an abortion is definitely an option. What is the point in both of you dying. It is a very sad situation but its just common sense. An abortion is not the answer for most situations because you are right it is somewhat murder but if it makes one person stay alive rather then two dying then it is the answer.

If it was guaranteed both the child and the mother would die, there’s no point in carrying it to term. That’s my opinion, and I’m a Christian.

I can answer in the affirmative on that one.

Although, I think an answer to a hypothetical question could be very different than the choice made if actually faced with the situation. Especially if one is answering that they would not have an abortion and leave it in god’s hands. I know two avidly pro-life people who chose to have abortions for far less dire reasons. It’s amazing what people can rationalize when actually faced with the choice.

There is a case recently of conjoined twins who were going to die if they remained conjoined. Doctors performed surgery on them knowing that one would not survive the operation. As expected, one of the twins died on the operating table while the other twin lived.

The pro-life view is not that two should die, but that the killing of an unborn child without justification is wrong. The percentage of abortions carried out to save the life of the mother is nearly negligible, and all legislation ever proposed to prohibit abortion has contained language allowing abortion in cases of threat to the life of the mother.

i will evaluate my options and make choice according to my values. all doctors are not allways right.
fear of death will not have power over me , If doctor have logical proof of that if i have other children i will do abortion .if i do not have children i will try to see what will hapend

This would be the only way I would ever have an abortion but the odds of me dying would have to be very high. The reality is that majority of women do not abort because their doctor has told them there is a high chance they will die. Most abort because they don
